First Steps - The adventure begins

So I bought a plot of land - one step closer to getting a farm up and running. Let me take a step back though and explain myself. I met an old timer in one of the bars in town three nights ago and then again last night and we got talking over a beer, like you do, and anyway he told me about a couple of plots of land up for sale. I took a look and put an offer in on one of them and I heard today that they accepted it. It's going to take a week or so before it is actually mine but man it feels damn good to have my own land.

Chuck

He really likes to talk, when you buy him a beer or two, and he told me a lot about Silverrun - he has lived here for sixty eight years (ever since he was born)  and definitely has a lot of stories about the place. He seems plenty harmless though and friendly enough and I have a feeling his local knowledge will be pretty handy.

Clearly Silverrun is a logging town but there are enough parcels of land to get a decent farm up and running and anyway I don't have much of a choice now that I have bought a plot of land. The towns pride and joy is the old wooden coaster that I have driven past a few times, I was actually meaning to ask about it anyway, and Chuck tells me it was built in the fifties when Silverrun was a popular tourist town for people in Seattle who wanted to get out of the city. It was closed down in 2006 and needs a lot of repairs, sadly money the town doesn't have.

I tell you though I would love to see it working again and give it a ride.

Anyway Chuck gave me a rundown of the town and recommended I stop by the waffle hut for the breakfast special - guaranteed I will be doing that. I will also explore a bit of the town and get to know some of the locals while I wait for the paperwork on the land to clear and then it's going to be full on work mode.

I think this is as good a point as any to say goodbye so until next time...
