So I am land owner - WOOHOO - the money finally hit my account and while I am not going to put the figure here suffice to say it is more money than I have ever seen in my life.
But that much money comes with a lot of responsibility - the American government is not giving me this sort of cash without a lot of expectation. A LOT of expectation.
Honestly I have had some moments of doubt - I have to make this work and not just because its government dollars but for myself as well you know?. A chance like this will not come along again so now the hard work begins.
I spoke with Betty and put offers on the two plots of land that I want and she assures me, off the record, that I will get the land but as always it will take time to go through.
Building an empire
Charisma actually squealed when I told her and she also told me her dad knows people in farming construction in Goldcrest who will come over and give me a fair quote on barns, machinery etc so that is a bonus.
Talking of parents Charisma invited me to hers for the weekend to celebrate my good - no my amazing - news. She wants to cook for me and has invited her mum and dad to come over and eat with us.
Obviously I said yes - but now pressure of meeting the parents for the first time...
Anyway I will be spending the rest of the week looking at farming equipment, barns, sheds and trying to find someone who can tarmac a field.
I am meeting Chuck later as well, he has rounded up some of his buddies who used to run farms around the area back in the day so I can get some advice from them. Working farms is nothing new to me but I have never had to build a farm from scratch so I want some pointers on what I should be doing.
Yeah the hard work definitely starts now.
