Dear journal - my mind has been blown. Seriously I am all over the place right now.
So lets start at the start shall we? Charisma invited me to spend Christmas day at her parents (of course I said yes) but apparently Clark always hosts a big Xmas party at the hotel on Christmas Eve and we got invites for that so Charisma came over Christmas Eve afternoon and we dropped in for a few hours before leaving for her parents.
I went into town on Monday and it was suddenly a lot quieter than it had been in the days before - no stressed store owners, no Betty with her clipboard and no little people anywhere to be seen. When I asked around I was told that Nick was all packed up for the rest of the year and would be back again in time for next Christmas.
Yeah - nothing about that adds up...
Fast forward to Christmas Eve - I woke early and couldn't get back to sleep so I got myself out of bed and stepped out to enjoy some early morning fresh air.
Trust the camera to fail at the worst moment
Yes its a blurry mess but come on you must be able to make it out. A goddamn slay being pulled by reindeer - in the sky - with SANTA. I almost choked on my coffee.
I was stunned I can tell you that much. It was just coming up to 6am and I guess the lens was fogged up on account of going from the warmth indoors to the cold outside.
But I know what I saw.
By time I had wiped the lens he we gone.
I went back in on wobbly legs and fell asleep at the table as I tried to come to terms with what I had just seen.
Obviously I showed Charisma when she arrived but she said the picture is too blurry to make anything out and honestly she thinks I was still half asleep when I took the picture and then when I feel back to sleep I dreamt the rest.
I mean I want to believe her but it felt so real and given all the weirdness of the days before I just don't know.
Leaving that aside Betty then blindsided me when I went in town later - still dazed I might add - with the news that the grant I received was only part one of two.
I swear it took me a few minutes to even register what she was telling me, a (possible) Santa sighting tends to do that to a person, she actually started to get concerned - I can only imagine the look on my face as she was talking to me.
But here is the thing - I asked her if she believed Santa is real and I SWEAR she faltered for a moment before she regained her composure and told me again that I have a second payment coming in January.
I somehow managed to focus on that (for a bit) - it wont be as large as the first payment and there will be no third payment but WOW what a Christmas present. I almost hugged her. Almost.
I did manage to regain some composure as the day went on and I had a pretty fantastic Christmas - the party was fun and Charismas' parents sure know how to host a great Christmas.
Like all good things it has to come to an end though and my thoughts are now with the new year and planting new crops and expanding the farm further.
However I WILL be keeping a good eye out for Nick the exporter next year and I swear to god there will be no camera malfunctions next Christmas Eve.
And with that let me bring the festive period to an end - see you next year dear journal.
